The 6-Step P.R. S.T.A.R. Formula
I will personally guide through the following six stages of your PR campaign to ensure that you have entered a new phase in your career or business by the time we are done. This is the first time that I am offering my 6-step signature P.R. S.T.A.R. results-driven formula that I have successfully used for my clients for over 20 years.
P – Persistence
The first step in the public relations process involves creating a persistent mindset and establishing spiritual alignment. It is imperative that you know what you are doing and why you are doing it. There has to be an authentic drive behind the campaign to generate true success. Getting into alignment with yourself and your purpose is paramount. One of my mottos has always been, “persistence pays.” There is no truer place for that credo than in the field of public relations.
R – Research
Doing the appropriate research to create your branding, positioning, and messaging—as well as finding the appropriate avenues of promotion—all form the foundation for your campaign. Without having conducted this step, you will likely end up back at the drawing board. This is the time to ensure that you are newsworthy by defining what will be your hallmark image and future reputation. This is the time where you also will identify your audience and how you plant to reach them through the editorial media.
S – Shine
It’s time to shine by establishing your voice and creating compelling collateral that accurately reflects you and your vision. This is the time to come out of your shell, from behind-the-scenes, own your worth and talent and courageously flaunt it to the world. Putting your best foot forward in every way possible, through your product and services and how you present them and yourself, sets the stage for the type of exposure that you receive. This is my favorite step, as I’ve helped countless clients step confidently into the mainstream spotlight!
T – Timeline
A winning PR strategy includes a comprehensive PR plan and timeline. Determining the best plan of action for the optimal outcome takes deep diving into a myriad of possibilities and then choosing the direction that will have the most impact. I find that this area is one where most entrepreneurs drop the ball. It is never too early to be thinking about PR. I will work with you to ensure that you we take all the best steps. Without doing this, you might miss out on once-in-a-lifetime media opportunities that can make or break a launch.
A – Awareness
Once you have properly executed your PR plan and timeline, you are ready to get your message out there and obtain massive awareness by capturing the spotlight in mainstream press. Through strategic exposure to the right target audience, you will gain momentum, build relationships and earn bigger and better press over time. When conducting media relations, you need to think like a journalist and know how to overcome objections. Learning how to pitch the press and actually secure the editorial media hit is part art and part science, mixed with equal parts intuition.
R – Results
At this stage of the game, you have properly executed your PR campaign and are securing editorial results. Your credibility and audience is growing. People are buzzing about you and your products or services. The cachet that comes with securing more visibility is bringing you more of what you were seeking—whether that is clients, customers, partners, investors, sponsors or other opportunities for growth. The party is just getting started, so now it’s time to optimize those results and learn strategies for highlighting your accomplishments.
